Scarlett Strallen
Scarlett Strallen, born and raised in London, is best known on Broadway for her roles as Mary Poppins and Sibella in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Other New York highlights include portraying Gwendolyn in Travesties on Broadway and Alice in The New Yorkers. Scarlett’s West End career has been equally illustrious, featuring roles such as Cassie in A Chorus Line, Clara in Passion, and Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as Josephine in HMS Pinafore and Kathy in Singin’ in the Rain – both of which earned her Olivier Award nominations.
Her additional theatre credits include the title role in Nell Gwynn, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Lady Macduff in Macbeth, Cunegonde in Candide, Amalia in She Loves Me, Marion Paroo in The Music Man, and starring alongside Judi Dench in The Merry Wives of Windsor with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2014, Scarlett won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayals of Cassie in A Chorus Line and Cunegonde in Candide in the same season. She was also an original cast member in Mamma Mia! and The Witches of Eastwick.
A frequent soloist with orchestras around the world, Scarlett’s recent and upcoming US engagements include performances with The Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Grant Park Music Festival, Utah Symphony, Philly Pops, Phoenix Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, and Arkansas Symphony, among many others. She made her German debut with the John Wilson Orchestra and the Philharmonia in Berlin in A Celebration of the MGM Film Musicals, followed by a performance with the Prague Philharmonic under Maestro Keith Lockhart, and appeared at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
Scarlett has performed in Cole Porter in Hollywood and Bernstein Stage and Screen with the John Wilson Orchestra, and played Laurie in Oklahoma!. Her recordings include Something’s Gotta Give with Simon Keenlyside, State Fair, and The 20th Century Fox Songbook for Chandos Records, conducted by David Charles Abell. She recently completed a recording of My Fair Lady as Eliza with theSinfonia of London. Scarlett has been honoured to perform on two separate occasions for Her late Majesty the Queen and once for His Royal Highness King Charles.
