A short and moving piece from American composer Missy Mazzoli opens this concert, dedicated to her father who was a soldier in the Vietnam War.

Mozart's concerto is one of his very best, an expansive and majestic work in which trumpets are added to the usual orchestra.

Mendelssohn's powerful and exciting symphony cleverly interweaves psalm tunes with simpler, more rustic music, before ending with a triumphant set of variations.

The Philharmonia Orchestra is Anvil Arts' Orchestra in Partnership.

There's a sort of cosmic serenity to These Worlds In Us...calm with a sense of wonder...unusually beautiful and atmospheric.
